Scratches on furniture are one of the common problems we all face. What are the ways to remove the scratches that make the appearance look bad and the furniture look old? How to cover scratches on furniture for you? We’ve compiled the answers to your question.
How to remove scratches on furniture? Here are different solutions…
Apply Vaseline to the scratched area on the furniture and leave it from evening to morning. The wood will swell and the scratch will fill. You can then wipe off the excess Vaseline.
If the scratch is not very deep, you can use an iron to make it more obscure. The scratch of the furniture, which will expand in heat, can be closed. For this, lay a damp cloth on the scratched area and heat it by ironing. The area will widen and the scratch will become indistinct.
Coffee and black tea can be effective at hiding scratches on furniture. You can use a cup of tea bags for this. Brew a pack of tea bags with 2 tablespoons of boiling water for a few minutes. Wipe the scratched area of the furniture by soaking a piece of cotton in tea. Another method is coffee. Create a dark mixture with filter coffee mixed with a small amount of hot water. With this mixture, you can erase scratches on furniture.
Car paste removes scratches on the hood and polish makes it shine again. You can also use these products for your furniture. However, do not apply the products to non-scratched surfaces.
Retouching pens are used to remove wood scratches. You can buy these pens and use them on the scratched area. A felt-tip pen that matches your furniture color can also work. If there is, it would be good to polish it with varnish.
Similarly, you can mix 1/2 cup of vinegar (apple cider vinegar or white vinegar works best) with 1/2 cup of cooking oil to buff out wood scratches and cracks. Dip a microfiber cloth in the solution and then scrub the wood surface thoroughly until the scratch is gone. The oil will swell and fill the cracks, while the vinegar will gently destroy the wood.
If you rub the walnut on the scratched area, you can see that the image has improved.
Since walnuts are known to work wonders on damaged wood, it’s apparently not surprising that peanuts do too. To make your wooden furniture a little better, apply some peanut butter, let it sit for about an hour, wipe it off with a wet cloth, and then polish it. Good as new!

If the polish of your furniture has started to peel off and it is full of scratches, if there are small holes caused by the falling of hard objects, you need to do a repair work outside of these solutions.
It is necessary to completely remove the varnish on the weathered wood from the surface. Doing it without a machine will make you very tired. First, you should use 40 grit sandpaper. 40 grit is quite abrasive and will easily remove the polish.
You should make the wood you sanded with 40 grit sandpaper smooth with 120 grit sandpaper and make it ideal for the paint to hold with 220 grit sandpaper.
After you finish sanding, you should completely remove dust. You can only clean it with a damp cloth. After the surface is completely dry, you can proceed to the next step.
For the gaps on the surface, you should use putty in the color of your wood. Fill the gap with putty and level the gaps on the surface by going over it with sandpaper.
You can now apply the appropriate paint and varnish for wood repair. While painting with the roller brush, paint the corners with the detail brush. Make sure you apply paint evenly all over.
